Known as ‘Blue Zone' region, where people live much longer than average, Barbagia is a vast mountainous area, extending alongside the Gennargentu massif. Here you will find the heart and soul of this magical island. You will first drive to Posada, the last remaining medieval village on the island, to enjoy a nice walk from the borgo to its popular castle, Castello della Fava. Afterwards you will reach one of Barbagia’s most iconic lost villages, Orgosolo, famous all over the world for its numerous mural paintings, which began in the 1960s as a form of protest. After a nice drive to the top of Monte Ortobene, you will reach the Redeemer's bronze Statue and at his feet admire the magnificent view on Nuoro’s old city.
